The first MCU movie of 2022 is upon us, and according to our Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness review, it’s not one Marvel fans will want to miss. Multiverse of Madness progresses the overarching MCU storyline through the delightfully weird and spooky lens of director Sam Raimi, complemented by “a score that’s to die for” from composer Danny Elfman.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in theaters now, but will also be coming to streaming later in June. If you're wondering how and where you can watch it yourself, take a look at the information below.

After Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) appeared to sacrifice herself to destroy Mount Wundagore in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans have been wondering when or if the Scarlet Witch will make a return to the MCU. While the fate of the Wanda Maximoff we know and love may still be up in the air, neither Elizabeth Olsen nor MCU mastermind Kevin Feige seem ready to say goodbye to the character just yet.

Feige has been vocal about his love of Elizabeth Olsen as an actor, telling Variety that the only reason they even attempted WandaVision was because she is “such an outstanding actor” and goes on to say that he’d work with her “for another 100 years if we could.” When asked about Wanda’s fate in Multiverse of Madness, Feige insists that we never actually see her body in the rubble saying “I saw a tower coming down, and a little red flash. I don’t know what that means,” implying that we probably haven’t seen the last of Wanda in the MCU.

Why the Multiverse Could Be the Key to Wanda’s MCU Return

While we may not know the future of Wanda Maximoff, her connections to the X-Men and the Multiverse could be the key to her MCU return.

Elizabeth Olsen has been just as vague about her return to the MCU, but is equally open to coming back into the fold. In her recent profile for Variety’s Power of Women issue, she mentioned that she would love to see “some sort of redemption” for her character after her dark turn in Multiverse of Madness – as would many of the fans who saw her villainous streak in the film as a stark turn from Wanda’s journey in WandaVision. When told about Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, Olsen expressed interest in teaming up with the X-Men as the Scarlet Witch saying “It would be cool to work with a lot of those people from the X-Men franchise.”

Given Wanda’s X-Men origins in the comics, she and her brother Pietro are actually Magneto’s children not metahumans created by the Mind stone, bringing Wanda back with the X-Men could be a logical next step for the MCU. Since we’ve already seen this version of Wanda turn villainous, her redemption could lie in using her knowledge of the multiverse to bridge the gap between the X-Men and the Avengers as the Multiverse Saga comes to a close in phase 6, especially if Earth-838 Wanda is looking to make amends for what the Scarlet Witch did to her world. Or we could see an entirely different Wanda appear as either friend or foe. In regards to Wanda’s story in the MCU, Feige told Variety that “there really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics.”

Between Multiverse of Madness and the animated Disney+ series What If…?, we’ve already seen that more than one version of Wanda exists in the multiverse. Even if the version of Wanda that we’ve gotten to know over the years did die in the fall of Wundagore, that shouldn’t stop Feige from bringing the character back to give her the arc she truly deserves. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine both died in Logan, and their characters have made or will make appearances in the MCU, so clearly the death of a character is not an obstacle if Feige really wants them there. As Feige himself said “Anything’s possible in the multiverse!” Let’s just hope that whichever version of Wanda we see next gets the redemption arc she deserves.

Cut Scarlet Witch Fight Footage Evokes Brutal Mortal Kombat Fatalities, An extended sequence from Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch's battle at Kamar-Taj in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals some brutal kills.

An absolutely brutal extended fight sequence from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featuring Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) has been released online.

On Instagram, Liang Yang, who has coordinated stunts and fighting on such films as 2020's Wonder Woman 1984 and 2022's Morbius, shared an extended sequence from his work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that did not make it into the film. The battle takes place early in the movie, when Scarlet Witch takes on the warriors of Kamar-Taj.

Doctor Strange 2 Release Date

We finally have a release date for the highly anticipated Doctor Strange 2 movie! The film will be hitting theaters on May 6, 2021. This is definitely a movie to keep your eye on, as it has been in development for years now.

Benedict Cumberbatch will be starring as the titular character and he has been teasing fans with glimpses of his training regime for the role. With such a strong cast and crew attached to the project, we are sure that this will be one superhero movie not to miss!

Doctor Strange Vs Wanda

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness delivered a new version of Elizabeth Olsen’s classic character, the Scarlet Witch, after she went down a more villainous path opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s master magician. But following the end of that adventure, fans have one major question on their minds: is Wanda really dead?

During the final battle between Strange and Wanda, America Chavez opened a portal to Earth-838, which allowed Wanda to see different versions of her twin sons while also meeting herself in the process. This led her to stop her assault on the Multiverse by bringing down Mount Wundagore and stopping the effects of the Darkhold, but although fans were led to believe that this killed her in the moment, there are small signs that point to her survival.

A red flash of light shone on screen just as Wundagore crashed on top of Wanda, and while Doctor Strange 2's crew hasn't spilled the beans on what this means, fans are convinced that the Scarlet Witch's story didn't end here.

Now, Olsen herself and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige have revisited that moment, once again teasing a continuation to Wanda's intense MCU journey.

Doctor Strange 2 Movie

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a movie full of surprises. The sequel to the 2016 debut of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) brought fans through a few universes, opening up endless possibilities within the MCU. As Phase 4 unfolds, we've seen the introduction of countless variants, with Loki first introducing audiences to the concept on Disney+ in 2021.

Everyone was shocked to see the introduction of the Illuminati group within the MCU during Multiverse of Madness. However, even the actors who participated in the cameos didn't expect it. Lashana Lynch, who appears as a Captain Marvel variant, tells Empire, "It blew my mind" when discussing her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lynch initially played Maria Rambeau in 2019s Captain Marvel, portraying the best friend of Carol Danvers, the film's titular hero. Now, she would return as Rambeau, with the powers of her alternate friend.

"It was a wild one," she tells Empire. According to Lynch, she already knew of her character's off-screen death ahead of The Marvels and didn't expect to see an MCU return. "Kevin Feige had messaged me, letting me know about Maria's demise. [Characters] spoke of it in WandaVision, which I'm glad that they did because at least that's good context," she explains. "I was like, 'Great, okay, she's gonna be an ancestor.' 'No, she's gonna be Captain Marvel.' It blew my mind."

Doctor Strange 2 Release Date in Hindi

The long-awaited superhero Marvel movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch is making its OTT release today, June 22, 2022. Disney+ Hotstar will stream it in the similar way it streams other marvel movies. The announcement was made on the Twitter handle which had its theatrical release in May this year.

It has already made its wonderful on-screen presence in theatres. And its OTT release is expected to set its bar greater in comparison to the theatres. Doctor Strange has its first season released in 2016. Its time limit is for 1 hour 55 mins. Marvel lovers who have already watched or want to rewatch can check the movie on Disney + Hotstar for its OTT release.

Is Wanda a Villain

One theory could explain why Doctor Strange was acting so weird during Spider-Man: No Way Home. Throughout MCU Phase 4, Stephen Strange has had his hands full. First, he was forced to take on the mentor role for Peter Parker in Marvel Studios' third Spider-Man movie. Then he had to deal with a scorned Scarlet Witch after WandaVision and come face to face with alternate versions of himself in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With all this on his plate, it's no wonder Stephen Strange was acting differently, but one theory might suggest a darker reason for this change.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Peter Parker dealing with the fallout from the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which his identity was revealed to the world by the trickster Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio. Turning to Doctor Strange for help, Peter is thrust into even more danger. The former Sorcerer Supreme jumps at the chance to make everyone forget the web-slinger and inadvertently releases non-MCU Spider-Man villains from the past into their timeline. The dire situation caused both Peter Parker and Stephen Strange to make some difficult and questionable decisions, creating something of a rift between the two allies.

Doctor Strange Wanda

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addresses Wanda's future in the MCU following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After first being introduced in 2016's Doctor Strange and featuring in several Avengers team-up movies, Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero returned for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earlier this year. The film, which is directed by Sam Raimi, earned mostly positive reviews from both audiences and critics and performed well at the box office, bringing in over $955 million. In a surprise twist for fans, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, who was first introduced into the MCU in the mid-credits scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, returns not as a hero, but as a villain.

The Doctor Strange sequel sees Wanda and Doctor Strange pitted against each other, as the former ruthlessly pursues America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) in order to reach her children in another dimension. After slaughtering sorcerers at Kamar Taj and the Illuminati in Earth-838, Wanda, who has fully become the Scarlet Witch at this point, is moments away from killing Chavez in order to absorb her powers. The ending to the Doctor Strange sequel features Wanda finally seeing reason and sacrificing herself in order to destroy Wundagore Castle, seemingly being buried under heaps of rubble as Doctor Strange and Chavez escape.

Where Can I Watch Doctor Strange 2 for Free?

The first MCU movie of 2022 is upon us, and according to our Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness review, it’s not one Marvel fans will want to miss. Multiverse of Madness progresses the overarching MCU storyline through the delightfully weird and spooky lens of director Sam Raimi, complemented by “a score that’s to die for” from composer Danny Elfman.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in theaters now, but will also be coming to streaming later in June. If you're wondering how and where you can watch it yourself, take a look at the information below.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, frightening images, and some language. The film runs for a total of 2 hours and 6 minutes including credits.

What is the Plot of Doctor Strange 2?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opened the door for new Variants of characters from all across the MCU's Multiverse, even though many of them didn't last long thanks to the Scarlet Witch's rampage. Included on the victim list was the entire Illuminati council from Earth-838, which ended with Lashana Lynch in her comeback as a new version of Captain Marvel.

Having originally played Carol Danvers' best friend, Maria Rambeau, in 2019's Captain Marvel, Lynch got an unexpected chance to return in Doctor Strange 2 alongside Variants like Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter and John Krasinski's Reed Richards.

Although this new Captain Marvel held out longer than the rest of the Illuminati, Wanda's power was too much for her to handle, with the Scarlet Witch bringing a giant statue down on Maria to take her out of the equation.

Is Doctor Strange 2 Pg-13?

Doctor Strange 2 fight coordinator Liang Yang has posted an extended fight sequence originally meant for the sequel, but which was ultimately cut. If you watch the video, it won’t take long to imagine why Marvel chose to pass on the fight. Among other things, you’ll see the stunt actor playing Scarlet Witch behead one of Kamar-taj’s warriors and then use his headless, impaled corpse to murder his brethren.

It’s difficult to imagine that, had the scene survived, that Doctor Strange 2 (aka Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) wouldn’t have arrived in theaters with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first R rating. Cult horror director Sam Raimi just barely squeaked out a PG-13 with the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange. Considering the film portrays a superhero murdered by having his brain (presumably) liquefied in his skull, a possessed corpse flying into battle with the help of enslaved demons fashioned into a (literally) screaming cape, and Captain Carter abruptly made half the woman she used to be, the fact Doctor Strange 2 secured a PG-13 rating is a minor miracle.

What Will Doctor Strange 2 Be Rated?

One of the most surprising parts of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was just how low Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch fell. No longer did she feel like the Avenger she once was—by the time the movie started, thanks to both the influence of the Darkhold and her grief, she had become the movie's main villain.

Not only does she take down all of Kamar-Taj, but her entire end goal revolves around killing a child (Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez). If anyone needed any further proof, just look at how she brutally murdered the entire Illuminati on Earth-838 in a matter of minutes.

In another timeline, however, Olsen's villain was going to go even further. Previously, it was revealed that the beginning of the movie was originally supposed to have Wanda behead Earth-616's Mordo. The witch even shows that same head to Doctor Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch is about to take on a lot of responsibilities as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Saga, especially after starring in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this past summer. And with the next trilogy of Phases in the MCU now being dubbed the Multiverse Saga, the Master of the Mystic Arts will be a key player in the upcoming battle between universes.

When fans last saw Cumberbatch at the end of Doctor Strange 2, he had just been imbued with a Third Eye after his dalliance with the Darkhold, which he used to stop the Scarlet Witch from destroying reality. This came before an unexpected encounter with Charlize Theron's Clea, which will unquestionably bring Strange back into the Dark Dimension for the first time since his first solo movie.

While it hasn't been confirmed where or when Doctor Strange will actually return to the MCU, he's sure to be an important source of both knowledge and power as the Multiverse opens the door to one new adventure after another. Now, in a recent interview, Cumberbatch looked ahead to what that future holds in his MCU future and a potential Doctor Strange 3.
